On Saturday, January 21st, at the Hamilton Manor near Trenton, New Jersey, Our founder Russ Niggemyer lost a controversial 6-round decision to Alando Swain (4(1KO) -1) of New Jersey. Niggemyer dropped Swain in the 2nd round with a perfectly timed straight right hand, but Swain was able to hang on and escape the round. Judges Pierre Benoist and Kason Cheeks saw it 57-56 for Swain while Emil Conforti had it 57-55 in favor of the New Jersey fighter. We caught up with Russ Niggemyer after the bout and this is what he had to say, ” I don’t know what fight those judges were watching. I feel like I at least won, 4 round to 2, and even had a 10-8 round in my favor as I knocked him down in the 2nd round. Swain’s a real nice guy and he fights hard, but he held a lot and punched while holding a lot, I felt like my camp could’ve been a little more vocal to the ref about this but it would’ve probably fell on deaf ears anyways, I won this fight and he knows it, that’s enough for me. Can’t cry over spilled milk, I’ll forge on. My career has taken some hits this year, but the experience was invaluable! I hope to fight 100 times. If I wind up with a record of 90-10, 80-20, or even 70-30, that’s pretty good in my book. ” SS fight writers saw the bout 59-56 for Niggemyer.
